Our Head Office

Our Head Office is just of Stranraer Town centre, housing our Management Team, supported by our Admin Team, with a resource and , training room, meeting and IT facilities.

Care and Support at Home

Most of our staff teams are working out in the community supporting individuals in their own homes with a variety of tasks, to enable people to remain as independent and at home for as long as possible.

We also support individuals to live independently in their own homes via our 24/7 Support Services.

Day Care Hubs and Support Services

We also have three Day Care Support Hubs in three separate locations within Stranraer. All adults can access a wide range of activities, and choose the hub which best meets their needs, nutritious food and access their local community. There are also good transport links from the centre of the town to each hub.

Our support services can be utilised to support individuals both within and out with hubs or their own home, and access our local and wider communities supporting activities of your choice.

Our Feet First

Service provides foot and nail care services are delivered by a small dedicated team and fully trained nail technicians.

Care and Support at Home

Our Care at Home Team provide Outcome Focused Person centered care and support tailored with the individual enabling them to enjoy an independent life in the comfort of their own home and around those they love the most.

  • Getting up in the morning
  • Assisting to bed at night
  • Help with getting washed and dressed
  • Bathing and Showering
  • Assisting with cooking
  • Assistance to eat
  • Continence Care and support
  • Help with medication
  • Collection of prescriptions
  • Help with household tasks and cleaning
  • Laundry support
  • Re-ablement Support
  • A personal shopper or support to shop
  • Socialising and company
  • Overnight stays
  • Respite to allow a carer some free time, giving peace of mind that their loved on is being well cared for
  • General Welfare checks
  • Any other support needs can be discussed and we will endeavour to provide this.

Stranraer Skills Station believe it is important for all individuals to be able to stay in their own environment, with their home comforts for as long as possible. Our commitment is to promote their independence and tailor the care and support needs in the way that they choose.

All of the Support Hubs, provide a safe and stimulating environment to socialise and participate as your require in a variety of activities. Support can be accommodated for All adults over 16 years, we support those with Additional or Specialist needs, older adults, all support tailored for your outcomes.

Each hub offers something different and all provide small group, comfortable and cheerful settings, with supportive and friendly staff.

Individuals can be supported to develop or maintain life skills ,

  • Where we have ensured that the Day Centres are homely and relaxing for users
  • Small group facilities for more personalised Care and Support
  • Fully functional adapted kitchen and cooking facilities.
  • Access and use of various forms of technology and the internet.
  • Personal care needs, including medication administration
  • Disabled / toilet showering in our Wet room.
  • Arts and crafts
  • Various games, activities aimed to maintain or develop motor and or cognitive functions and skills
  • Supported access to the local community and participation in other community based activities
  • Lunch provision
  • After hours use of facilities as required.

We can tailor our support to meet your needs wishes and outcomes and this is always lead by you.

Feet First

Foot and Nail Care Service

Taking care of your feet and keeping an eye out for problems brings many benefits:
  • Staying Active foot problems can quickly reduce mobility. If it’s painful to walk and especially an elderly person, they can tend to walk less. This reduces independence, limits exercise and risks the development of deep-vein thrombosis.
  • Balance healthy feet improve balance in the elderly, thereby reducing the risk of falls.
  • Early Warning Signs -feet can help alert you to health problems at an early stage. Problems such as diabetes, arthritis, poor blood circulation and nerve damage can all have a noticeable effect on the feet or toenails.

Feet First Foot Care Treatment

Each appointment lasts approximately 30 minutes, the initial appointment will last longer, while getting to know you and your feet.
A foot care treatment will consist of:

  • a foot soak,
  • nail trim,
  • hard skin removal,
  • dry
  • moisturise
  • replacement of footwear if required

Using the service

At your first appointment, our nail technician will assess your foot health and will obtain your details including any health issues.
Feet First will hold clinics as follows:

  • STRANRAER: Every Monday and Friday in Coronation Day Centre, Whitson Ave Stranraer, DG9 7AW
  • NEWTON STEWART: Scheduled Fridays at Activity and Resource Centre, King Street, Newton Stewart, DG8 6DQ.

For those who cannot attend any of our venues we can arrange a visit to your home, at a slight increased cost. At each appointment, we can assist you to make your next appointment. Regular appointments will keep your feet neat and tidy.
