About Us

Stranraer Skills Station was established as a Care and Support Service in July 2010 by colleagues Elaine McCourtney and Gillian Templeton whose ethos of professional and responsive care is still reflected in the way that support is delivered, promoting choice, dignity, outcomes and control for all individuals.

Our Motto

Providing the Right Support, at the Right Time, in the way the Individual Desires, are fundamental to all we do.

Originally, Gillian and Elaine’s vision was to provide Support Services to Adults with Learning Disabilities, within our social hub, offering further local services and accomplished this, by offering Accessible Social Hub Accommodation and 1:1 Support to access our local community.

However, the duo quickly identified a need to register as a Care at Home Service to enhance Stranraer Skills Station to fully meet all needs of those using their services.

More recently, with the expansion of Day Care Services, for Older Adults, Stranraer Skills Station opened additional daycare facilities in the town of Stranraer.  These Social Hubs offer small, friendly groups; in warm and comfortable environments, with homely accessible facilities.

Our Values

To support Adults in our community who may have Learning and/or Physical Disabilities, Ill Health Visual and Hearing Impairment, Acquired Brain Injury, and Challenging Behaviour throughout our local community, regardless of their Colour, Race, or Creed, by providing the environment necessary for their individual physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

We believe that everyone, whatever his or her need, is a uniquely valuable individual and should have the personal freedom to pursue their aspirations and take their own place in the world, with unquestionable Human Rights.
